Hotline Miami 2 Now Lets You Build Custom Murder Rooms, Tell Unique Stories

Dennaton Games, Abstraction Games, and Devolver Digital have released the level editor for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. It is available now through Steam Workshop.

A beta for the level editor took place in December, 2015 and a previously released trailer (above) showed how players can build rooms, add windows and flooring, and place furniture.

Naturally, level creators can also place a variety of enemies around their levels, arm them with weapons, and set certain behaviours patterns.

According to a press release, the level editor will enable Hotline Miami 2 players to create everything from single levels to full campaigns complete with custom story scenes. This means they can tell their own, original stories set in the Hotline Miami universe.

For those less inclined to creating brand new content, they can remix existing levels, or simply download and play what others have made. Levels, campaigns, and collections are all sharable using Steam Workshop.

To celebrate the release of the level editor, Hotline Miami 2 will be available at a 75% discount from today. This deal will extend through the Steam Summer Sale, which will reportedly begin on June 23.

In GameSpot's Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number review, Danny O'Dwyer awarded the game a 9/10.

"In almost every way, Hotline Miami 2 is a marked improvement on an already tremendous formula," he said. "This is a game that had me pumping my fists and laughing with joy throughout my time with it, and I was left despondent by the time it drew to a close.

"[It's] a gutsy, refined game that isn't scared to force you into corners and watch you battle out of them, as well as an audiovisual joy that marries graphics, music, and gameplay so well that even the pause screen is a work of art."
