Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Demo Available to Select Kickstarter Backers

A demo for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been made available to those that pledged $60 or above to the Kickstarter campaign and filled out their Fangamer survey by June 13. The demo will be playable for "approximately three months."

Ritual of the Night is designed by Koji Igarashi, the man behind many of the best Castlevania games. It is considered to be the spiritual successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

The game's Kickstarter page states download keys are being distributed now. Those that meet the criteria for receiving one, but as of yet haven't, can email orders@fangamer.com for support.

"Thanks to Microsoft's kindness, we were able to display the E3 demo of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night at the Xbox booth," Igarashi said in a project update, reflecting on showing the game at E3.

"It was a great experience for us--watching such a wide variety of gamers play the build helped us uncover a lot of usability issues in the game. But the smiles on so many faces and the enjoyment everyone seemed to get out of the demo told us a lot of our initial ideas are good, which is exciting.

"We are finally able to send the demo to backers who pledged $60 or more. It will remain playable for approximately three months, but if we run into a big problem with the demo or its distribution, we may need to make some further adjustments as things arise."

System requirements for the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night E3 demo can be found below.

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 @ 3.3 GHz or AMD Phenom II X6
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7790 or Nvidia GeForce GTX650TI (DirectX 11 required)
  • Storage: 5GB available space
  • If you're using Windows 7, we strongly suggest using Aero mode in order to play in windowed mode. (If you don't use Aero Mode, it will lag and slow the process speed.) The demo only works with XInput-compatible controllers.

Igarashi also detailed some of the features that are being improved for the final version. You can see those below.

  • Include story cutscenes
  • Change tutorial to cutscene format
  • Adjust and change enemy/item placements
  • Map screen (minimap on screen, with an option to show or hide.)

Although Deep Silver is publishing Bloodstained, the game's development was partially crowdfunded. Pledges for Bloodstained passed $3.5 million, securing a PlayStation Vita release for the game.

Bloodstained is planned to launch in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, PC, and Wii U. The game will be available digitally and physically, and PlayStation versions will support cross-save.
