Resident Evil 5 Out on PS4 and Xbox One Today

Resident Evil 5 is available digitally on PS4 and Xbox One today. It comes with all of the DLC content, including both of the side adventures, all of the Mercenaries content, and a brand new difficulty level.

The two side adventures fill in the blanks of Resident Evil 5's story and feature Jill Valentine in both. Lost in Nightmares finds Jill and Chris Redfield in the Spencer Estate and serves as a prologue to the events in the fictional African nation of Kijuju. The second, Desperate Escape, shows the team-up of Jill and BSAA operative Josh Stone, and they need to get to safety as quickly as possible.

Additionally, The Mercenaries United brings all of the characters, alternate outfits, and weapon loadouts together and makes them immediately available. On top of that, No Mercy mode is a new difficulty for the story mode that features even larger numbers of enemies.

If you're looking to pick up a physical copy of Resident Evil 5, you'll have to wait until July 12 in North America.

If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber on PS4, you can download a free demo for the upcoming Resident Evil 7 right now. It's not part of the final game and doesn't feature its protagonist, but it's a good indicator of what you can expect when the game releases on January 24, 2017.

Resident Evil 7 producer Masachika Kawata talked to GameSpot about what the full game will actually be like. He mentioned that there will be guns, but you shouldn't expect to go in guns-blazing. The upcoming Resident Evil will have a much deeper focus on horror. Additionally, Kawata talked about how he was unhappy with the cancellation of PT/Silent Hills.
