You Can Pick Up Hyper-Realistic Shooter Series Arma for Cheap

The Arma series of realistic military shooters gained a lot of notoriety for spawning the DayZ multiplayer survival mod, but it's been around a lot longer than that. It's also pretty well regarded, with Arma 3 selling over 2 million copies as of the end of 2015. If you want to try these games out, right now is a good time to jump in: all of the games in the series are on heavy discounts on Steam.

If you head over to the Arma series' Steam page, you'll see that every game and expansion pack has had its price slashed. The very first game in the series, Arma: Combat Operations, is a particularly good deal at only $1.59. You can pick up the most recent game, Arma 3, for $20. If you're interested in checking out the older entries in the series, I'd recommend grabbing the Arma X: Anniversary Edition bundle, which includes Arma, Arma 2, the expansion packs, and all the DLC for $10.

You can see the full list of deals below.

  • Arma Tactics - $1.79 (was $8.99)
  • Arma: Combat Operations - $1.59 (was $7.99)
  • Arma: Cold War Assault - $1.19 (was $5.99)
  • Arma 2 - $2.59 (was $12.99)
  • Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead - $3.99 (was $19.99)
  • Arma 2: Combined Operations (bundle of Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead) - $4.99 (was $24.99)
  • Arma X: Anniversary Edition - $9.99 (was $49.99)
  • Arma 3 - $19.99 (was $39.99)
  • Arma 3: Apex Edition (Arma 3 and DLC) - $48.99 (was $69.99)

If you're interested in playing the original DayZ mod that was made for Arma 2, you need Arma 2: Combined Operations, which includes the Operation Arrowhead DLC. You can read more about how to install the mod here.

Arma 3 was released back in 2013, and you can check out our review here. GameSpot critic Kevin VanOrd gave it a 7/10, saying, "Arma 3 is a game with few modern counterparts... With that uniqueness comes a dedicated community willing to overlook the flaws because they crave a kind of tension and large-scale teamwork unavailable anywhere else."

Additionally, the summer Steam sale is scheduled to start today. Keep an eye on GameSpot for more deals coming out of the sale this week.
